QualCast, LLC was founded in 1997 in Nashville, Tennessee. The primary objective of QualCast was, and is, to provide the engine parts aftermarket with the best quality products available in the world, at competitive prices, through the best service and most efficient distribution system. The QualCast Team based in Nashville Tennessee, USA are all dedicated to serving their selected customer base, to ensure the right parts are delivered efficiently and economically.
Valve Train Specialists
QualCast is a worldwide distributor of engine valves, valve seat inserts, valve guides, valve springs, valve spring inserts, valve keepers (cotters, keys), valve lifters, valve stem seals, rocker components, injector components, push rods and freeze plugs.
Applications are divided into 3 printed catalogs – “Heavy Duty, Agricultural and Industrial” applications are in one catalog, “Light Duty, Medium Duty, and Marine” are in a second, and the 3rd catalog contains “QualFast” and “Black Lightning” performance applications. All catalogs can be downloaded via the Online Catalog page in .pdf form, or the Online Catalog contains all applications for all type of engines. Light Duty applications can also be searched for by Year, Make, Model and Engine.
Search Online CatalogBlack Lightning Racing Valves are manufactured using the highest quality Stainless Steel, plus they are plasma nitrided on the stem and top of head for exceptional wear resistance, strength, and ductility. The underheads are swirl polished stainless and the heads are designed with thinner margins to reduce weight and inertia.
QualCast Expansion Plugs are produced from the highest quality steel in a wide variety of cup designs. For marine, performance, or heavy duty applications we recommend brass or stainless steel materials. We carry standard cup, shallow cup, and concave cup in all three materials, as well as in metric sizes. We believe our inventory of bulk plugs is the largest in the aftermarket! We also offer a full range of pipe plugs.
All plugs are Made In The USA!
QualCast offers injector tubes, injector o-rings, and water directors. All materials are in the same material as OEM whether steel, copper, brass or stainless steel. Seals are sold separately in viton.
QualCast now offers a full range of import application lash adjusters, heavy duty lifters, and automotive hydraulic flat and roller lifters. Lash adjusters are designed to eliminate excess valve train clearance for various overhead cam designs. Our flat tappets are guaranteed to have the correct hardness. We have all the latest designs.
Our Push Rods are being stocked in nitrided finish for improved surface finish and rust preventative. Lengths are stamped on the push rod.
QualCast stocks cast and stamped rocker arms with heat treatment. Self-Aligning Styles Add Guide Rails. We also keep rocker kits, studs, balls, pivots and nuts.
Materials:
All 30- valve guides are individually cast in gray iron. Where required certain alloying materials such as chromium, molybdenum or nickel may be added.
All guides meet or exceed OE material specifications.
New!
31- Manganese Bronze Guides are now available! "H" Suffix Part numbers with an "H" suffix are additionaly hardened by heat treatment, to Rockwell 30 on the "C" scale.
Materials Our Premium Materials are stamped or machined to exacting tolerances. For extra long life, our finishes include zinc (with green or yellow flash coating), copper, and black oxide . We only offer heat treated keepers where others offer a choice.
Alloys "Q" Series:
Our high-chrome alloy designed for unleaded fuels which enables Rockwell Rc40 hardness combined with easy machinability.
Features excellent resistance to high temperature corrosion in applications to 1150°F. All 20- and 21- prefixes without a suffix are cast in Q material.
"N" Series:
Our austenitic (non-magnetic) nickel-based alloy designed for natural gas, LPG, propane, and other extreme heat applications.
Denoted by the suffix "N". Rockwell Rc45 and hot hardness to 1600°F.
"S" Series:
Our stellite series. A cobalt-based alloy used in a very limited range of specialized applications where additional abrasion resistance is necessary. Rockwell Rc53. Denoted by the suffix "S".
Engineered Advantages:
Q, N, and S series inserts are individually cast and have a true radius on the lead-in edge to facilitate the press fit. Also, all seats have a fully finished inside diameter to assist gas flow and swirl.
Sizes
"20-" Prefix: The 4-digit part number is the cutter size. 1562 = 1.562" or 1-9/16" cutter. Actual O.D. of the seat is increased by the press fit for cast iron heads - between 0.0045 and 0.006 inches.
"21-" Prefix: The 4-digit part number is the cutter size as above. Actual O.D. of the seat is increased by the press fit for aluminum heads - 0.007 inches.
"22-" Prefix: The 4-digit part number is the actual O.D. 2006 = 2.006 inches.
Materials:
Serrated Steel keeps springs from walking. 0.060" Copper colored for spring in service. 0.030" Silver colored for new springs. -5 Suffix High Performance VSIs are case-hardened and colored blue.
Made in the USA!
QualCast springs are made from super clean carbon steel wire (non-metallic particles can reduce steel strength). We also use chrome, chrome vanadium, or AS-25, depending on the application.
Engineered Features
Single Spring Design - ground flat on top and bottom for straightness and shot-peaned for heat-related fatigue resistance.
Spring With Damper - A flat ribbon damper on the inside diameter of the spring reduces spring "bounce" and "surge". We identify springs with dampers by the part number suffix "-D".
Double Spring Design - Many heavy duty applications have an inner and outer spring; the double springs give additional strength pressure to seat the valve.
Materials:
We offer every material on the market, and tell you the material by the suffix of the part: Suffix Material -15 Nitrile -25 Polyacrylic -35 Glass Filled Nylon -45 Viton -55 Metal Clad -65 Silicone -70 Teflon And Rubber -75 All Teflon -80 Teflon And Metal -90 High Performance Polymer
Materials:
A variety of alloys to suit all applications. These include carbon steel, martensitic steel with chrome and silicon, stainless martensitic, stainless austenitic, Inconel and Nimonic.
Engineered Features:
One-piece construction for most applications. These OE spec materials are designed to handle the extreme hostile environment of engines at full operating temperatures.
On Heavy Duty applications we also offer bi-metallic construction to gain the best properties of two different OE spec materials for thermal resistance (head) and mechanical resistance (stem and tip). Hard chrome-plated stems where required, to reduce stem wear. Stellited seats where required (denoted by an "S" suffix), to avoid corrosion caused by combustion gases. Welded wafer tips to resist friction of dynamic load. Some tips are also stellited.
Assured Quality ISO 9002 and QS9000. All QualCast valves are subjected to rigorous QA inspections both at the manufacturing plants and at our central distribution operation in Nashville, Tennessee, U.S.A.
